Hotels in Colombia

Levels of investment in the hotel infrastructure in Colombia are at an all time high with international hotel chains such as Hyatt, Intercontinental, Hilton and Radisson all recently announcing new properties in Cartagena and Bogota. In addition smaller private luxury hotels are opening throughout the country, in destinations such as Santa Marta and Providencia. This increased choice and capacity should lead to more competitive pricing, making Colombia a much more affordable destination in Latin America.

Viva Colombia – a new low cost airline

Based in Medellin, Colombia’s second largest city, Viva Colombia will be the country’s first true low cost carrier. Expected to be launched in early 2012 Viva Colombia will operate an extensive network of 32 routes throughout the country using a fleet of Boeing 737 and Airbus A320 aircraft. This exciting news promises to bring much needed competition to the national aviation market, challenging the domination of Avianca and making air travel more affordable for both Colombians and foreign visitors.
